Duterte on People Who’ll Die after Refusing COVID Vaccine – “Good riddance”

Pres. Duterte Warns Anti-Vaxxers Anew

DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte renewed his warning on anti-COVID vaccine individuals amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Almost half of the term of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte as the country’s chief executive focused mainly on fighting the COVID-19 pandemic which started in 2020. The said pandemic rocked the healthcare system of the country and many people lost their lives to it.

Like several other countries across the globe, PH waited for the development of the vaccines. The national government prepared funds for the procurement of the jabs. Several nations and entities also donated vaccines to the country.

Different vaccine brands including Sinovac, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, Janssen, and Sputnik V arrived in the country. Many Filipinos are fully vaccinated while some have already received their booster shots.

However, there is also a huge part of the population that is still unvaccinated. Some Filipinos are still hesitant to get their jabs despite the continuous encouragement of the government and the health authorities for their defense amid the pandemic.

Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke anew on the anti-vaxxers in the country. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the 76-year-old Chief Executive mentioned “good riddance” on those individuals who will refuse the vaccine and die of COVID-19.

The President expressed his anxiousness about individuals refusing to get vaccinated against the COVID-19. He stressed that the experts and the people in the government and the private sector already spoke about the importance of vaccination. According to him, some people only realize when they are already sick of the virus and already in the hospital.

The statement of Pres. Duterte was made after Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III cited that 93% of those who died of COVID-19 in the country are unvaccinated individuals. Most of the critical and severe cases are also those who have not received their jabs.
