Malacañang Announces Areas under Alert Level 2 amid Ongoing COVID-19 Fight

ALERT LEVEL 2 – Malacañang announced the new measures in the Philippines and here’s the list of the areas under this alert level.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause unstable situations in the Philippines. Recently, the whole Metro Manila was reverted under Alert Level 3 following the surge in the cases in several cities in the capital region. The operating capacity of businesses were reduced to 30% for fully vaccinated individuals.

Amid the implementation of the Alert Level 3, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) also imposed the “No Vaccine, No Ride” policy. It came with some exemptions including the essential workers. The mayors in Metro Manila have also agreed to limit the mobility of the unvaxxed residents in their cities.

Initially, Metro Manila was set under Alert Level 3 from January 3 to January 15 but it was extended until January 31 while the behavior of the cases is observed. Recently, Malacañang announced the Metro Manila will be under Alert Level 2 starting February 1-15, 2022.

Alert Level 2

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, aside from Metro Manila, there are seven (7) areas that are also under Alert Level 2 from February 1 to February 15. Here is the list of these areas:

  • Cavite
  • Rizal
  • Bulacan
  • Batanes
  • Biliran
  • Southern Leyte
  • Basilan

Under Alert Level 2, the operating capacity of businesses is increased. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) also announced the lifting of the “No Vaccine, No Ride” policy in areas under the said measure. Amid the decrease in the daily COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila and improving situation, some authorities believe that the easing of the restrictions must be done slowly.

The national government assured to continue monitoring the situation. The public is advised to continue practicing the minimum health protocols.
