The rise in the COVID-19 cases in the Philippines urged the authorities to re-impose stricter measures in some parts of the country with high cases of the disease. Extended until the end of January 2022, Metro Manila remains under Alert Level 3 and several other areas outside the capital region with high coronavirus cases are also under the same measure.

In Metro Manila, there are current restrictions on the mobility of unvaxxed individuals. The Department of Tourism (DOTr) is implementing the “No Vaxx, No Ride” policy in the National Capital Region (NCR). The government is boosting the vaccination efforts to fight the increase of the COVID-19 cases and the possible spread of the Omicron variant.

Several known personalities in the country tested positive for COVID-19. Some of them are key officials in the government.
