CLASS SUSPENSIONS: DepEd Suspends Classes Across NCR From January 15-22, 2022 Due to Surging COVID-19 Cases

WALANG PASOK – The Department of Education (DepEd) announces class suspensions in the National Capital Region from January 15-22, 2022.

Over the previous weeks, the cases of coronavirus disease has started to increase again after the Holiday Season. Many people have experienced various diseases after attending parties during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Various areas have raised the alert levels to control the movement of people and prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease and its new variants including Omicron.

Class Suspensions

Several local government units and schools have already canceled the classes to ensure the safety of both students and teachers.

DepEd released a memorandum to the division superintendents of schools across the National Capital Region. The memorandum declares the cancellation of classes January 15-22, 2022 and the resumption will be on January 24.

The Education Department made the announcement due to the surging cases of the coronavirus disease in Manila. The agency wants the students and school personnel to take good care of their physical and mental well-being.

The department announced that the submission of all academic requirements and other school activities will be moved to a later date after the health break. Teachers will be still require to attend to their usual activities like in-service training.

“The lost contact days shall be compensated by mechanisms such as independent study, remediation, enhancement activities and other related teaching-learning interactions,” DepEd said.

The agency also announced that the private schools may exercise their own discretion.
