Chua, who was dubbed a “Poblacion girl” by netizens, was seen at a party at Poblacion village in Makati City on December 22 after evading necessary hotel quarantine. She tested positive for COVID-19 later.
The majority of the 20 close contacts, according to Doctor Rheuel Bobis, the DOH’s COVID-19 focal person in the Ilocos area, exhibit no signs of the virus. As a result, Valdriz issued an executive order ordering the temporary closure of all businesses and restaurants in the region, which would extend for 15 days beginning January 8.
“All confirmed cases shall be isolated at any available isolation facility in the town,” Valdriz said.
Meanwhile, the Makati city administration has announced that the Berjaya Hotel, where Poblacion Girl, a returning Filipino guest from the United States, broke quarantine rules, will be closed. The virus was also found in five Berjaya employees.
Initially, the hotel’s managers expressed regret for their role in the incident. The Department of Transportation has suspended the hotel’s accreditation and permission to operate as a multiple-use hotel, citing its failure to comply with the Poblacion girl’s obligatory quarantine in December.
