2021 has been a heartbreaking year for most of us. Many of us grieve after losing a dear loved one and also, the public also mourned over the deaths of some of our loved celebrities. And as we near the end of 2021, let’s take time to look back at those celebrities and other famous individuals we have lost this year.

  • ROYETTE PADILLA died at 58 due to heart attack. He is the eldest of the Padilla siblings and he’s appeared in various films such as Di Na Natuto (Sorry Na, Puwede Ba?) on 1993 and Mistah on 1994.
  • CLAIRE DELA FUENTE, the OPM icon we lost because of cardiac arrest. She died at the age of 63 and before dying, she tested positive for COVID-19. She’s famous for her songs “Sayang,” “Nakaw Na Pag-ibig,” and “Minsan-Minsan”.
  • VICTOR WOOD, Jukebox King, died last April at 75 years old. “Mr. Lonely,” “I’m Sorry My Love,” “In Despair,” and “Wooden Heart” are just some of the songs he famed.
  • TOTO NATIVIDAD, the 63-year-old TV and movie director, died because of COVID-19 complications. He is the director of top-rating ABS-CBN series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Cain at AbelDugong BuhayPanday, and Pieta.
  • LE CHAZZ was found dead in his home in Quezon City. He is a famous stand-up comedian. He is Richard Yuzon in real life and met death at the age of 43. Accordingly, complications because of diabetes caused his untimely death.
  • RICKY LO is a famous and veteran entertainment editor-columnist. He left because of stroke at the age of 75. He is The Philippine Star’s columnist and entertainment editor. He also hosted programs like The Buzz (1999), Showbiz Stripped (2005), The Ricky Lo Exclusives (2007), and Startalk (2008-2015).
  • ARLENE TOLIBAS died because of cardiac arrest last June. As an actress, she appeared in shows and films such as Abangan Ang Susunod Na Kabanata (1991-1997), Buddy En Sol (1990-1995), My Little Juan (2013), ParangNormal (2015), My Other Woman (1990), Alabang Girls (1992), Bala at Lipistik (1994), Nena (1995), Tarot (2009), She’s The One (2013), and Glorious (2018).
  • SHALALA died at the age of 61 because of pulmonary tuberculosis. He is Carmelito “Tolites” Reyes in real life.
  • HANS MORTEL died due to pneumonia. He is a famous stand-up comedian and TV host. He is prominent Amy Perez’s co-host in Face To Face (2010-2013).
  • MAHAL was only 46 years old when she died. She may be little but her death caused a big whole of sadness to many people. She is loved not just for her cuteness but also because of her humor and talent.

Director Bert De Leon, Heber Bartolome, Raymund Isaac, Manoling Morato, Orestes Ojeda, Ate Shawee, Mel Francicsco, Ester Chavez, and Arturo Luz have also died this year.
