The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Typhoon Odette leaves the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday Afternoon (December 18, 2021).

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest update about Typhoon Odette. The tropical cyclone finally leaves the country’s vicinity after a few days of devastation.

PAGASA reported that Odette has left PAR at 12:40 pm after hitting Kalayaan Islands in Palawan. The weather agency also raised signal no. 3 over Kalayaan islands on Saturday morning.

Typhoon Odette

It has been last spotted at 380 kiloemeters West Northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Odette has sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 190 kph as of 11:00 am.

However, the typhoon may had a slight re-intensification as it moves over the West Philippine Sea.

“However, the eventual exposure of the typhoon to increasing vertical wind shear and the surge of the northeast monsoon will result in a weakening trend beginning tomorrow,” Pagasa said.

The powerful typhoon made it first landfall over Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte and continue to traverse Mindanao and Visayas. The weather disturbance destroys numerous houses and properties.

The typhoon uprooted trees, washed away numerous houses and even took lives of numerous residents. Odette leaves eight provinces without electricity as it damaged transmission lines.

The provinces of Bohol and Cebu declare a state of calamity due to Odette’s aftermath. Some flights have been also canceled due to the damage incurred from the recent typhoon.
