Davao Occidental Hit by Earthquake with 5.2 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 5.2 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental, November 30, 2021.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking was felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“. But the agency advises the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.
Recently, a quake has hit a part of Davao Occidental, November 30, 2021. At 08:56 a.m., Governor Generoso was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 06.68°North, 126.12°East – 006 km North 62° East of Governor Generoso with a depth of origin of 033 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are expected of the said quake and as well as aftershocks. The following intensities were felt in these areas:
- Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental
- Banaybanay, Davao Oriental
- Tarragona, Davao Oriental
- Mati City
- Maco, Davao de Oro
- Pantukan, Davao de Oro
- Santa Maria, Davao Occidental
- Lupon, Davao Oriental
- San Isidro, Davao Oriental
- Tagum City, Davao del Norte
- Rosario, Agusan del Sur
- Koronadal City
- Davao City
- Kidapawan City
- Makilala, Cotabato
- Magpet, Cotabato
- Tupi, South Cotabato
- Compostela, Davao de Oro
- Nabunturan, Davao de Oro
- General Santos City
- Tantangan, South Cotabato
