Malacanang has this statement on the rumored rift between Sara Duterte and PRRD
Cabinet Secretary and acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles denied that there is a rift between Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and President Rodrigo Duterte.
This speculation had been speculating for quite a while now as the election season in the Philippines has started. Broadcaster Mon Tulfo even wrote in his “Plan C” article that the President and the Mayor have a conflict. However, Mayor Sara slammed Tulfo for writing “chismis” in his column.
On the other hand, this issue is still lingering, especially since the Chief Executive has been spewing negative words against Sara Duterte’s running mate Bongbong Marcos.
Following President Duterte’s “weak leader” remark against BBM, as well as the controversial blind item, the Mayor asked her supporters to protect the presidential aspirant.
In a recent press briefing, based on the report from Inquirer, Sec. Nograles about the rumored rift between the father and the daughter. “They belong to different political parties at siyempre as with any different political parties, mayroong mga common candidates at may mga candidates na sinusuportahan for other positions ang either party,” the spokesperson
Nograles added that having different political opinions is not a new thing. “In a political exercise like elections, normal na magkaroon nang ganyan na pagkakaiba na sinusuportahan na kandidato,” the Secretary said.
Previously, the President expressed dislike when Sara Duterte decided to run for vice president and be the running mate of Bongbong Marcos when she is topping the presidential surveys. “I’m wondering why [since] she is No. 1 in the surveys, and [yet] she consented to run only for vice president. She is the one with the highest ratings,” Pres. Duterte said.
