ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Karen Davila interviewed The Voice Kids Philippines winner Lyca Gairanod for her vlog in August 2021. The singer landed on Twitter Philippine’s list of trending topics after that interview with Karen went viral.
In the video, Karen asked Lyca when her birthday was. As it turned out, the singer was born on Nov. 21 which also happened to be Karen’s birthday.
Karen Davila was visibly shocked by the coincidence while Lyca step back a little looking perplexed. Their reactions became the subject of memes on all social media platforms.
“Oh my God! Birthday ko iyon! Birthday mo November 21? Hindi ko alam ‘yun ah, wait hindi ko alam ‘yun. Magka-birthday kami,” Karen exclaimed.
Karen then promised Lyca that they will be celebrating their birthday together. “Dear, set in stone! Pag nag-birthday tayong dalawa, ako ang magpapa-party!” she said.

Karen Davila was able to fulfill her promise of celebrating their birthday together. The two made it even more special.
In the introduction of her vlog, Karen admitted that she felt pressured after getting so much attention from the online community for their viral interview. She said, “Medyo nakaka-pressure kasi hindi naman po inisip na magiging viral ang, ‘Oh my god! [meme]’
To mark the special occasion, Karen Davila and Lyca Gairanod gave away bicycles, food, clothes, phones to some of Lyca’s neighbors in Tanza town, Cavite. Special visitors at their natal day include Gretchen Ho and Small Laude. The young singer also received an expensive gift from Small Laude’s daughter, a Gucci belt bag.
