Singer Lyca Gairanod shared the story behind her reaction during an interview by seasoned journalist Karen Davila that became a viral meme.
Karen shared her 2-part interview with The Voice Kids grand champion on her YouTube channel. The inspiring journey of Lyca did not just touch the heart of many viewers of Karen’s vlog but it also amused them.
It is because of one particular part of the vlog when Karen asked about Lyca’s birthday and it turns out that they both have the same birthdate. The reaction of the journalist to this was epic and new memes were born because of this.
Based on the article in Bandera, Lyca Gairanod said that her reaction to Karen Davila’s shout was genuine. “Nu’ng sumigaw siya ng, ‘Oh my God!’ napakalakas po talaga. Pati ‘yung mama ko na nasa pinakadulo, kasi social distancing po kami eh, nagtinginan po kaming lahat sa kanya,” the young singer said.
She added that she was really surprised by the shout of Karen. Lyca stressed that it was not scripted and it was her natural reaction. “Sobrang totoo ang gulat ko riyan. Kaya sinasabi nila sa akin ang pangit ko magulat diyan. Ang pangit, ang pangit. Sobrang pangit po ng gulat ko walang maganda,” she said.
Meanwhile, Lyca Gairanod said that Karen Davila already called her about her plan for her birthday on November 21. “Mas excited pa po siya sa akin mag-birthday. Sabi ko, ‘ikaw naman kasi ate ginugulat mo ako masyado. Ang pangit tuloy ng reaksiyon ko sa pagkakasigaw mo sa akin,’” the young singer said.
Meanwhile, Lyca said that it was an honor for her to be interviewed by a seasoned journalist. She shared that when her road manager called her and said that Karen wanted to interview her about her life after winning the singing contest, she immediately said yes.
