Marites now has other variants
The term Marites, which is used to refer to those who love to gossip or “Chismosa”, has evolved into other variants.
As social media has become a vital part of the lives of many people, new trends have been discovered, talked about, and being consumed online. It is easier for many people to get updated by the latest happenings around the globe just by a few clicks here and there.
Information has become more accessible online. However, this venue has also become a spreader of malicious attacks, rumors, and fake news. Despite that fact many are still becoming Marites especially when it comes to the lives of celebrities and famous personalities.
The term Marites has somehow became an official term for gossipers. Some believed it stands for “mare anong latest”. However, there are new terms that surfaced online as other variants of this famous meme for “Chismosa”.
ABS-CBN Data Analytics Head Edson Guido shared these new terms that netizens coined. These only shows how creative Filipino netizens can be.
“Si MARITES at ang mga variants. Grabe ang bilis nila kumalat hahaha! Galing ito sa lahat ng mga nag comment sa FB page ko kaya feel free to share,” Guido wrote in the caption of his Twitter post. Several netizens who commented on this post of Guido shared their own entries.
Meanwhile, social media personality Xian Gaza has recently received the tag “the ultimate Marites” because of the controversial stories he has been posting on his Facebook account about certain celebrities. These are aside from the controversial proposals that he would post for female stars.
Aside from Xian, netizens are also calling veteran entertainment writers Cristy Fermin and Lolit Solis as “Mariteses Leaders”.
