President Duterte Shows No Support for Presidential Aspirants Bongbong Marcos, Manny Pacquiao

President Rodrigo Duterte said he won’t support presidential aspirants Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Manny Pacquiao in the 2022 elections.

In an interview with Byron Cristobal, or “Banat By,” a Duterte Die-Hard Supporter (DDS) YouTuber, the president stated that he will not back former Senator Marcos Jr. and Senator Pacquiao in the future elections. Duterte, on the other hand, has stated that the reasons behind it will be made public.

He stated that he will solely back his long-time aide Senator Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go’s presidential campaign. After Go dropped his candidacy for vice president on Saturday, November 13, Duterte issued the statement.

The President stated in an interview that he will clarify his reasons for not supporting Marcos and Pacquiao as soon as feasible. He went on to say that all he needs is some time to tell the truth.

“Manghingi lang ako ng ilang oras lang. Malaman na nila kung sino ang umikot. Hindi ako nagpapaikot. I’m just asking for a few more hours at masasabi ko na kung ano ang talagang totoo. Sa kampanya, sabihin ko bakit hindi ako puwedeng magsuporta kay Marcos. Ganoon din kay Pacquiao at sa iba,” Duterte said.

The President stated that he will back Go, whom he has known for a long time and who is modest about his accomplishments. Apart from that, Go, according to the Chief Executive, is also loyal to him.

“Alam ko sa taon na nagserbisyo sa akin, alam ko isang ano is talagang honest. Wala ka talagang makita tsaka masilip,” said the President.

He is also said to have never endorsed any contender other than Go. Duterte stated that he only speaks with lawmakers when they supposedly seek it and that he respects their wishes.

“Ni minsan wala kayong narinig na mag-Marcos ako. Wala, wala kayong narinig. Kailanman, hindi ako nagsalita na may susuportahan akov– si Marcos o si Pacquiao. Wala ‘yan sila. Kinakausap ko lang for respeto, eh gusto akong makausap,” Duterte added.
