Mayor Isko Moreno Speaks on Politicians “Toying” with Elections 2022 Candidacies
ISKO MORENO – The Manila Mayor took swipe at the politicians who are treating the 2022 candidacies like a “basketabll” game.
October 8, 2021 which was the deadline set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the filing of candidacy has passed but changes may still take place as substitutions are allowed until November 15, 2021. There is a total of 97 presidential aspirants but a few were determined by the poll body as nuisance candidates or those who really have no intention seek public office.
One of the incumbent government officials who is running for president in 2022 is Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. He is the standard bearer of Aksyon-Demokratiko. He is vocal on several national issues but tries to shy away from talks involving his fellow presidential aspirants.
However, recently, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno seems to have not been able to stay mum amid the recent happenings in the political arena. He took swipe at politicians whom he tagged to be allegedly treating the 2022 candidacies like a “basketball” game.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Mayor Isko Moreno said that the recent days in the lives of the Filipinos seemed to be like in a basketball court awaiting for some politicians to make their decisions.
“Dribble dito, dribble doon. Bago shoot-shoot, sub-sub muna,” he said.
According to the Manila Mayor, many candidates are fighting over the throne and that is all they want. He stressed that he does not want it as he compared the candidates to job applicants applying to the people.
The Manila Mayor did not name names but his statement came after the recent political moves of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte who is speculated to run for a national post in 2022. She quit from the mayoralty race in Davao City, left her regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago, and joined the national party Lakas-CMD where she can be a presidential or vice-presidential substitute.
