Tanza Rural Health Unit Office Records Cholera Cases at 3 Barangays in Tanza, Cavite

MANILA – The Health Unit Officer in Tanza, Cavite confirmed that several cholera cases have been recorded at 3 villages in the town.

Tanza Rural Health Unit Officer Dr. Ruth Punzalan confirmed that there is a cholera outbreak in Barangay Calibuyo. The residents of barangay Calibuyo, Punta 1 and Sahud Ulan suffered from diarrhea and vomiting.

A one year old kid passed away after experiencing signs and symptoms of cholera. After the baby’s untimely death, numerous residents have suffered the symptoms of cholera in various barangays.

An eight month old infant in Barangay Punta 1 has also died because of the disease. A fisherman and its wife have also suffered from the water-borne disease, according to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine or RITM.

According to the Rural Health Unit of Tanza, the residents should not be alarmed because the situation is under control. Punzalan is also hoping that the two remaining barangays would remain stable.

Punzalan also encouraged the public to take precautionary measures and observe cleanliness. She also emphasized the importance of proper hygiene and sanitation to prevent the spread of the disease.

“So ang paiinngat na pinapaalala natin kasi ito ay environmental sanitation pa rin. So kalinisan pa rin opo, so pag questionable ang water source natin pakuluan gumamit po ng distilled o mineral water or pwede pong pakuluan lang po natin,” Punzalan said.
