Carlos Joey See Reyes of Davao City, according to NBI Special Action deputy head Mark Santiago, lied in his application materials and supplied bogus documents when he applied for regular employment at the bureau in 2015. Since his employment in 2015, Reyes has been a Customs officer 1 posted to the Port of Davao.

Because the BOC Human Resource Department was updating employees’ service records and personal data sheets, they uncovered his violation. According to the NBI investigation, his documents state that he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mindanao.

The University of Mindanao also issued a certification stating that Reyes has no record of enrollment and “promotional reports filed by the registrar’s office.” “It is established that Reyes, with the intent to perjure and falsify official documents, did then and there willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously commit perjury and falsify official documents,” according to the certification.

The Department of Justice has charged Reyes with perjury and falsification of private and public papers. A person who knows he is making false statements can be imprisoned and fined up to P5,000 under the legislation.
