Bar in Makati Violating Alert Level 3 Health Protocols, Curfew Raided
Makati City local authorities have raided a bar that was found violating health protocols and curfew hours under the ‘Alert Level 3’ quarantine status.
After getting a report that health protocol was not being followed within the establishment, Makati Public Safety Department (PSD) employees raided the aforementioned bar. The Makati PSD invaded a mall that was closed.
They took the elevator to the second story, where the bar was located. Even though it was dark and there was little light coming in from outside the pub, the door opened and remained open far past midnight.
The authorities were informed about the bar, which had both Filipino and foreign clientele. Many infractions were observed at the bar, according to Renato Escotido, Chief for Operations of the Makati PSD Security Service.
Under Alert Level 3, limited dine-in is now permitted, although congestion is still prohibited, and a curfew remains in effect. He also claimed that the pub lacked an authorization to operate.
“Makikita puno ang loob. ‘Yung mga lumabag sa violation na aktong nandiyan, pumasok sila sa violation sa curfew at social distancing, city ordinance at napag-alaman namin na ‘yung bar walang permit,” said Escotido.
Around 200 people were detained by authorities. They took their identification and were required to pay a fee at City Hall. Another foreigner reportedly became enraged because he was unable to produce identification and the officials refused to release him.
A consumer going by the name Shane admits to breaking the rules. He claimed that a friend had just asked him to a birthday celebration. Shane also expressed his satisfaction with the Makati LGU’s strong adherence to the health protocol.
Based on the Makati Business Permits and Licensing Office’s assessment, the bar may be closed. In recent months, several businesses in the city have been shut down or punished for breaking health regulations.
