The local authorities of Davao City are now investigating a mother who is allegedly selling her own baby on social media.

Their family was having financial issues, according to the uploader, and they were out of food. However, in a subsequent post, the mother apologized and explained that she was simply following her husband’s instructions to sell their child.

The “sale” is posted on a social media platform for people who are looking for a job. The post went viral, eliciting responses from the internet community and reaching out to the authorities in charge of social welfare.

The case is being handled by the Women and Children Protection Team and the Davao City Cybercrime Response Team. Authorities are now searching for the mother’s location and the rationale for her actions.

Nowadays, some parents are forced to place their child for adoption due to a lack of financial resources to care for the child. This is especially happening for young parents and parents who do not plan their families, resulting in a large number of children despite their financial difficulties.

The public, on the other hand, has been reminded that anyone who adopt children from an unlawful method may face prosecution. Those who are detected illegally selling and adopting children will face charges of child abuse and other criminal matters involving child welfare rights.
