In beauty pageants, a pretty face is just a surface of what you can give. A total package of becoming a queen includes how you handled the question and answer portion, how you carried yourself throughout the pageant, your advocacy, and your background. And for Catriona Gray, the crowned Miss Universe 2018, she has become an expert when it comes to spotting a fake smile that the candidates flash on their faces.
And to smile from the heart is one tip she can give to aspiring beauty queens. Being one of the best Miss Universe queens, she expressed that a flat smile can easily be identified. Accordingly, a genuine smile will always outshine the fake one. How to give a genuine smile? According to her, it should be finding your source of joy while being on stage.
“Anyone can feel the flatness of a ‘fake smile.’ So whether it’s from the flutters in your chest, or a reaction to the crowd – a genuine smile always shines brightest,” she said. And currently, her source of joy is her puppies. she has two puppies and they might not be human but they are giving her absolute happiness.
Just recently, Catriona hosted Miss South Africa 2021 pageant in Cape Town and she was there along with other beauty queens like Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach. She is currently in a relationship with actor-singer Sam Milby. Before going to South Africa, they went to Mauritius together. She was dubbed as the winner who set the bar higher in the Miss Universe competition.
