DOH Launched Lusog-Isip App To Make Mental Health Care Accessible For Filipinos

MENTAL HEALTH CARE – In the Philippines, mental health is something not many give importance to, as such, the DOH launched the Lusog-Isip app.

With the new platform, Filipinos now have easier access to mental health care. According to the DOH, this would be the Philippines’ first-ever self-care and mental health app developed in collaboration with USAID and Renew Health.

What is included in the Lusog-Isip App?

According to an article from Inquirer, the app contains screening and self-care tools. Furthermore, it also has intervention programs and referral networks to assist users in navigating their emotional and mental health.

Currently, the Lusog-Isip app is available for download in the AppStore. However, it would soon be available for the PlayStore.

During the test run of the app, DOH Program coordinator Mr. Patrick Angeles was among the first to witness the utilities within the app. Along with him, there were also representatives from USAID RenewHealth and several other doctors.

Based on a study, mental illness has become the third most common disability in the country. With this statistic, six million Filipinos were said to be experiencing depression and anxiety.

As such, the country has the third-highest rate of mental disorders within the Western Pacific. Meanwhile, WHO stated that Schizophrenia has become the most frequently diagnosed disorder among Filipinos.
