Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas Got Good Words for Vice Pres. Robredo
ILOILO CITY MAYOR JERRY TREÑAS – The Mayor publicly announced his support for Vice President Leni Robredo who is running for the presidency in 2022.
Undeniably, talks about the election are everywhere now most especially online platforms like the social media. Facebook is filled with posts about support for specific candidates, stands on the issues involving the political bets, previously-published news articles related to politics and the political issues, etc.
For the 2022 Election, there is a total of 97 candidacies for president filed to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). One of those who are aspiring to run for president in the next election is Vice Pres. Leni Robredo.
Vice Pres. Robredo is a presidential nominee of the opposition coalition 1SAMBAYAN. She filed as an independent candidate in the next election and tapped Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan as her vice president. Her senate slate is composed of several candidates from different political parties.
Vice Pres. Robredo is vocal about her pursuit to unite the opposition but she admitted that the differences in views and some “non-negotiable” things are really big factors. Meanwhile, she achieved unity in her senatorial slate wherein several former political foes are under a single lineup.
The Vice President admitted that she knows it is going to be a tough journey for her as she takes the presidential race. According to her, she and her camp have no resources. Meanwhile, she is overwhelmed by the support that the people have show when she announced her bid and filed her COC.
There were several caravans held in different cities in the Philippines to show support for Vice Pres. Robredo. Local government officials have also spoke about their support to her candidacy for president.
One of those local officials who announced their support for the bid of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo for the presidency is Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas. Many laud the progress in the city under the Mayor.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Jerry Treñas cited the line of Dr. Martin Luther King that “we need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity but in love with humanity”. He stressed that as the father of the city, he must stand for the welfare of his people and must choose “the right leader” who will guide and lead.
The Iloilo City Mayor posted photos of him together with Vice Pres. Robredo on Facebook. He affirmed that the Vice President has always been supportive of the projects in his city and has proven to be “effective” and with no traces of corruption.
