Kiko Pangilinan Open To Be Replaced as Vice President of Robredo If…

Sen. Kiko Pangilinan Willing to Give Way for Vice Pres. Robredo’s Victory

KIKO PANGILINAN – Senator Francis Pangilinan said that he is open to be replaced as the VP of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo in the 2022 Election.

Currently, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) resumed the voter registration period as the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) has closed. Several incumbent politicians have filed their bid for another position in the government. One of them is Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.

Pangilinan filed his bid for vice president in the 2022 Election. He is carrying the Liberal Party and was tapped by its chairman, Vice President Leni Robredo, who is running for president in the next election. She filed her bid as an independent candidate showing openness towards other opposition groups.

It was shortly after Robredo filed her COC when it was announced that Pangilinan will be her running-mate in the next election. But, according to the Senator, he is open to be replaced as the vice presidential candidate under a condition.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan expressed that he is open to slide down as the running-mate of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo in the Election 2022 if it will help her secure the presidency. Reports state that opposition members are still tackling unity talks.

According to Pangilinan, if one of the presidential candidates of the opposition will agree to be the vice president of Robredo, he is open to be replaced as her running-mate. On the other side, if it will decrease her chances of winning, he assured that they will not allow it.

“Sliding down will hurt her chances more than help it, of course, we will not allow her chances to be undermined,” the Senator said based on the report.

Pangilinan stressed that what he will consider to be replaced if the votes of the candidate who will agree to slide down will go to Vice Pres. Robredo and would give her a bigger chance of winning as president. He is vocal of his full support for the Vice President.
