VICE GANDA – The Unkabogable star revealed the things he believes as the qualities of a real public servant.
Currently, talks about the election are taking the social media by storm after the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) has closed. The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) set the deadline last October 8, 2021.
The COMELEC has opened its system for the voter registration once again. Supposedly, its deadline was September 30, 2021 but there were still a lot of Filipinos who have yet to register. Long queues are evident in the sites set for voter registration.
The public called for the voter registration extension. Both the House of Representatives and the Senate passed bills seeking for it. The COMELEC agreed to extend it from October 11 to October 30.
Now that the filing of candidacy is over, talks about the qualities of politicians are among those circulating on social media. Recently, a public figure, actor-comedian Vice Ganda, aired the qualities he believes as the qualities of a real public servant.
In a segment of It’s Showtime, Vice Ganda encountered a contestant, Yolanda Magat from Caloocan, who considers helping other people as a mission although she would not financially benefit from her profession as a health worker. She’s dedicated herself to helping people for 25 years already.
Upon hearing it, the Kapamilya comedian told the contestant that she is a true public servant. According to him, a real public servant is “selfless” and forgets himself or herself to be in service of the public.
“Kinakalimutan niya ang sarili niya, dahil iyong pinagsiserbisyuhan muna bago siya. Iyon ‘yung totoong public servant,” the Unkabogable star said.
During the said It’s Showtime segment, Vice Ganda further stressed that the real public servants does not amass fortune. According to him, those who become rich while being in public service are not true public servants.
