Pres. Duterte Defends Going to Luxury Watch Store
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke about his “side trip” to a luxury watch store and claimed that he met with an ex-girlfriend.
Recently, an unexpected announcement came from Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The 76-year-old Chief Executive announced that he is retiring from politics after his term ends in 2022.
Prior to it, the President accepted the nomination of his party, the PDP-Laban Cusi wing, for vice president. Initially, he expressed that he wants to retire from politics and go home to Davao City but his statement only challenged his party mates to urge him even more.
During their conference, the President accepted his nomination for vice president but his former longtime aide, Senator Bong Go, declined his nomination for president.
However, unexpectedly, it was Sen. Bong Go who recently filed his candidacy for vice president to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). It was under the PDP-Laban Cusi wing. He was accompanied by Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who then announced his retirement.
According to the President, he is listening to the wants of the Filipino people that is why he decided to retire from politics. He stressed that he will go home to Davao City and prepare his defense to the investigation of the ICC.
Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte hooked criticisms when he and Sen. Bong Go had a “side trip” to a luxury watch store. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Chief Executive claimed that he met with an ex-girlfriend.
“Pinuna mo [Sen. Gordon] ‘yung pagpunta ko sa tindahan… May gusto akong makipagkita ko sa isang tao, girlfriend ko noon. Hiwalay na kami,” the President said.
According to Pres. Duterte, he just wants to walk around and they entered a watch store and checked on some beautiful watches. He stressed that he did not steal a watch and accused the Senator and his department of stealing P86 million. He also claimed that he saw him wearing his gold watch.
