Initial Implementation of Limited Physical Classes to Start on November 15, DepEd Says

The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that the pilot run of the limited physical classes will start on November 15.

On Wednesday (October 6, 2021), DepEd official Nepomuceno Malaluan said that the pilot implementation of the limited face-to-face classes amid the coronavirus pandemic will start next month.

Nepomuceno made the statement during the hearing of the Senate Committee on Basic Education, Arts and Culture. The pilot physical classes were scheduled at the start of academic quarter two of the school calendar.

“We start on November 15, the face-to-face classes and tinaon po natin doon sa pilot schools, tinaon po ‘yan natin sa umpisa ng academic quarter two ng ating school calendar,” Nepomuceno said.

The education department’s timeline indicates that the initial run will last until December 22. After the assessment of the limited face-to-face classes. The dry run of in-person classes have been set to end on January 31, 2022.

DepEd will also conduct evaluations to identify more schools qualified for the expansion of pilot run. The agency would launch site inspection and dry-run before presenting the proposed expansion to President Duterte.

Limited Physical Classes

The group will present the proposal in February 2022 and will begin the expanded pilot run of in-person classes on March 7, 2022 if approved.

In late September 2021, President Duterte approved the limited physical classes in low-risk areas covering 100 public schools and 20 private schools. The program covers Kindergarten to Grade 3 students.
