Jinggoy Estrada Running For Senator in May 2022 Election
JINGGOY ESTRADA – Actor-turned-lawmaker Jinggoy Estrada filed his certificate of candidacy on Sunday as he seeks a return to the Senate in the 2022 election.
Senate hopefuls will troop to the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila to file with COMELEC their certificates of candidacy (COC) for the May 2022 election. The filing period will run until October 8.
They will be vying for twelve (12) seats in the Senate. Prominent politicians and veteran lawmakers are once again among those vying for the position.
Among the incumbent and former senator who have filed their COC were JV Ejercito, Loren Legarda, Francis “Chiz” Escudero, and Risa Hontiveros. On Sunday, October 3, former senator Jinggoy Estrada filed his COC at 2:55 PM and just a day after his half-brother JV who is also seeking a return to the Senate in the 2022 polls. He served 2 terms as a senator from 2004 to 2016.

Jinggoy Estrada spent the last 2 years of his term as a senator due to plunder charges in connection with the pork barrel scam. He currently faces a P183 million plunder case but was granted bail in Sept. 2017. His case remains pending.
The actor-turned-lawmaker will be running under the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP), the party founded by his father, former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada.
In a previous article, broadcast journalist Raffy Tulfo also joined the 2022 Senate race. He filed his COC for senator on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The host of the widely popular Raffy Tulfo in Action program said he want to push for law so that he could do more for poor Pinoys who are “easily abused.”
