Raffy Tulfo Files COC For Senator in May 2022 Elections
RAFFY TULFO – Broadcast journalist Raffy Tulfo on Saturday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) to join the Senatorial race in 2022.
One of the most searched celebrities in the Philippines is broadcast journalist Raffy Tulfo. He is also one of the country’s biggest content creators. He is the host of the TV5 program “Wanted Sa Radyo.”
The 61-year-old radio presenter is fondly called “idol” by his fans. He’s a known defendant of the poor and savior of the powerless. He also hosts the newscast program “Idol In Action” and “Frontline Pilipinas.”
Raffy Tulfo’s official FB page ‘Raffy Tulfo in Action’ has over 18 million followers while his Youtube channel has more than 2 million subscribers. On October 1, he exited “Idol in Action” and “Frontline Pilipinas” to seek government office.
The prominent broadcaster filed his certificate of candidacy for senator at 2 PM at the Sofitel Hotel Manila in Pasay City on Saturday, Oct. 2. He was accompanied by his wife Rep. Jocelyn Tulfo.
Raffy Tulfo pushed through with his senatorial bid after saying goodbye to his programs. The veteran radio anchor will be running as an independent candidate. He also revealed that he was previously asked by Senator Ping Lacson and Senator Manny Pacquiao’s camp to join them but he denied their request.
“Hindi lang sa Lacson group, maging sa Pacquiao group at marami pang iba. Pero minarapat kong maging independent. Magalang ko silang tinanggihan,” he said.
Raffy Tulfo said he’s gunning for a senate seat in the upcoming election because he wanted to put an end to injustices and oppression. He said he felt that his capacity to help others was “limited” by his job as a broadcaster.
Idol Raffy said he ran as independent because he did not want to be affiliated and indebted to any political party. He also expressed confidence that his fans will support his political aspiration.
“Confident ako na yung mga subscribers ko ang susuporta sa akin at hindi lang ang mga subscribers ko ang susporta sa akin. ‘Yan ang dahilan kung bakit ako independent,” he said.
