Robredo Believes Healthcare Must Be Prioritized by New Admin

Vice Pres. Robredo Speaks on Pandemic in PH

ROBREDO – Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo believes that the healthcare system must be prioritized by the new administration.

The Philippines is drawing near to a new administration as the current terms of the incumbent leaders are about to end. A national election is set to be held in 2022 and the voter registration for the next poll is ongoing.

The voter registration deadline is set on September 30, 2021 but there might be changes considering the calls for extension. Both the bills of the Senate and the House of Representatives seeking the extension of the voter registration period were passed on final reading.

If there are no significant differences between the Senate Bill and the House of Representatives Bill, the bills may be passed to the Office of the President for approval. The filing of the candidacies is set to start until October 8.

Several politicians have already announced their political plans for the next election. One of those whose announcement is still awaited is Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. She is vocal that she is not giving up in the pursuit to unite the opposition and will make a due announcement.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Vice Pres. Robredo believes that the healthcare system must be prioritized by the new administration. She stressed that there is really a need to stop the spread of the virus.

“Ang tanong lagi eh, ‘what are we doing wrong?’ Kasi one and a half years na tayo dito, parang rollercoaster ‘yung ating (COVID-19) numbers. Bubuti, sasama, bubuti, sasama,” she said.

According to the Vice President, the country cannot move on from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic as long as the nation continues to record new cases of the disease. She stressed that the Filipinos must learn to “live with the virus” – not taking it for granted and with the willingness to shift to a new normal with recognition of the situation experienced amid the pandemic.

As for her possible presidential bid, Vice Pres. Robredo stressed that what is meant to happen will happen. She has always been vocal of her belief that the presidency is not something planned well but it is by fate. For now, she is using the last remaining days before the filing of candidacy begins to unite the opposition.
