Vice Pres. Robredo Still Hopeful for Unity Ticket in 2022 Election
ROBREDO – Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo claimed that there are two “scary scenarios” that may happen if the opposition won’t unite.
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is set to start the period for the filing of candidacies this October. The deadline is on October 8, 2021. Several political parties have already announced their bets for the upcoming election and some of the nominees for a certain position have accepted the nomination.
As for the Liberal Party, they have yet to decide and announce their standard-bearer for the next election. Many await the decision of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo amid the calls for her to take the presidential race next year.
As for the Vice President, her goa is for the opposition not to be divided in the upcoming election. However, some politicians she has previously met with have already announced their bid for presidency next year.
It is only a few days left now before the filing of the candidacies to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is set to start. Despite the presidential bid announcement of some incumbent politicians, Vice Pres. Robredo remains hopeful for a unity ticket in the 2022 Election.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President stressed that there might be some who are already firm on their bid but she is not giving up as the communication lines are still open.
According to Vice Pres. Robredo, there are “fearful scenarios” if the opposition will not unite. She cited the possibility that Marcos will be back in power and the continuity of the current governance in the country.
The Vice President stressed that the more that the opposition will unite or the number of presidential candidates against the administration’s bets is better. According to her, the corruption in the government now is not forgivable at any stage.
