PROMDI Party Nominates Sen. Pacquaio for President in 2022
PACQUIAO – The PROMDI party by Visayan politicians nominated Senator Manny Pacquiao for the position of president in the 2022 Election.
As the filing of candidacies for the 2022 Election draws near, political parties are deciding on who to support in the upcoming bid. The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has set the COCs deadline on October 8, 2021. Some politicians have already announced their political plans for the next election.
One of those who announced his bid for president is Sen. Manny Pacquiao. He was nominated for president by his PDP-Laban wing. The ruling party is currently having factions – the wing of the boxer-turned-senator and the Cusi wing. The other faction is pushing for Sen. Bong Go to run for president but he has yet to accept the nomination.
According to COMELEC, a political party being divided in factions and having more than one nominees for a certain position already happened before thus it is possible. However, the poll body stressed that it has yet to decide on the matter.
In his interviews and speeches, Sen. Manny Pacquiao stressed that he came from poverty thus he knows the struggle and he wants to help take the poor people out from the situation. According to him, it is his commitment to God and not to the people.
Aside from PDP-Laban, another political party nominated Sen. Pacquiao for president. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the PROMDI party expressed their support for the boxer-turned-senator.
According to the report, the announcement came during the ceremony held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City. The boxer-turned-senator accepted the nomination.
Meanwhile, PDP-Laban clarified that the Senator accepting the nomination of PROMDI party composed of the Visayan politicians does not mean he is abandoning his wing of the ruling party. According to Ron Mansuyac, it is reinforcing their strength in the upcoming bid.
The Senator who is a PROMDI himself, a person from the province, vowed to create more opportunities for people living in the province if he wins president. According to him, he wants the people in the province to no longer need to leave their families or go to the city for their source of living.
“Nais ko matupad ang pangarap ng mga tulad kong promdi,” the Senator said.
