Actual Footage of Tragic Accident at Tinubdan Falls Involving Poor Teenagers Circulates Online
The actual video footage of a tragic accident at Tinubdan Falls in Barangay Tabili, Catmon town, Cebu goes viral after it was posted online.
A Facebook user named Gha Capuyan Landero has shared the video footage of a tragic accident happened at Tinubdan Falls in Cebu. The video is now circulating online and garnered various reactions from the netizens.
In the video, it can be seen that a group of people including young teenagers were happily enjoying their moment at the falls. After a few moments, the falls overflowed and swept the swimmers.
Three people gone missing due to the incident, which happened last Sunday (September 26, 2021). The missing victims have been identified as Jacel Alastra, 32, Kent Junde Monterola, 17 and Princess, 7.
The missing victims were among a group of 17 family members who had rented cottages at the popular tourist destination in the area. Tinubdan Falls can be located 15 kilometers from the town center.
Catmon Police Station investigator Police Corporal Gemar Arigo reported that the rest were able to flee and avoid the rushing waters. The tourists have been caught against large rocks or held on to vegetation riverside.
“The floodwater came suddenly. It was raining in the mountain, but where they were, there was no rain. They were swept away just like that,” Arigo said.
Arigo also said that the rescuers saved the victims after they were trapped against the large rocks. The police authorities have recovered the body of Monterolla near the spillway in Katambisan in Barangay Corazon.
The rescuers continue to search for Jacel and her daughter Princess.
