Isko Moreno: “Instead of Flattening the Curve, We Have Flattened…”

Mayor Isko Moreno Speaks on PH Economy, Quarantine Measures

ISKO MORENO – As he announced his presidential bid, the Manila Mayor expressed his side on the economy and the quarantine measures in the Philippines.

Currently, announcements about political plans are happening left and right as the filing of the Certificates of Candidacies (COCs) comes close. Many politicians have talked to the public regarding the positions they plan to run in the next election.

There will be a bid for national positions and many Filipinos are visibly eager to know who might take the presidential race in 2022. Several months ago, there were already reports about survey results over the possible presidential candidates in the next election.

One of the names in the survey results was Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. However, then, the mayor of the capital city did not address the questions and maintained his focus on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, Mayor Isko Moreno finally put an end to the speculations. He announced his bid for president in the Election 2022 together with celebrity doctor Doc Willie Ong who will be his vice president.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, during the announcement of his bid for president, Moreno said that he will soon release his platforms and assured the people that many of them have already been tested in Manila. He stressed that when he will say “housing”, it is not “drawing” but a concrete promise.

Mayor Isko Moreno also spoke on the pandemic response in the Philippines. Based on the report, the Manila Mayor stressed that the country is under community quarantine measures for 557 days but “instead of flattening the curve, we have flattened the economy”.

Moreno further stressed that patients are flat-lining in the hospitals. He claimed that the people are used for experiments in very long quarantine measures – the longest. He assured to be a “healing president” for the Philippines.

In the next election, Moreno asked the public to support his tandem with Ong and not to give him other partners. He reminded the people that it is going to be a six-year term. Meanwhile, he assured that he can work with anyone.
