If he wins in the 2022 national election, Isko Moreno expresses that he won’t block the franchise bid of ABS-CBN.

ISKO MORENO – After announcing his plan to pursue a presidency run, Mayor Isko Moreno assures to approve the ABS-CBN franchise if he wins.

From being a Tondo scavenger to being an actor and eventually becoming a Manila Mayor. Actor-turned-politician Isko Moreno recently launched his 2022 candidacy for the highest government position in the country. On Wednesday, September 22, he formally launched his presidential bid at Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila.

His running mate for the vice-presidential bid is Doctor Willie Ong but admitted based on a previous article that his first choice for his running mate is Senator Grace Poe. However, the female politician refused to accept the offer principally because of her family’s personal relationship with Senate President Tito Sotto who will also run for the vice presidency position in the upcoming election.

After revealing his 2022 elections plan, the Manila Mayor assured that if he wins next year, he won’t block the franchise bid of the ABS-CBN network. To recall, it has been over a year since the media giant officially closed down after 70 lawmakers voted to dump their financial bid. It’s no secret that the current president has some issues against the network and most of the lawmakers who dumped the bid are the president’s political allies.

In a report from Rappler, he expressed that he will not block the renewal if the franchise application passes Congress. He said, “I will not lift a finger to oppose it. Any person, corporation can avail such right, such opportunity under my watch. If Congress gives you such privilege, approve it, I will sign it.”

Last year, the shutdown of the giant network has been widely condemned. It has resulted in a massive job loss and loss of information to people in far-flung areas that only the network can reach.
