Ruby Rodriguez Speaks About Her Child’s “Intellectual Disability”

The son of Ruby Rodriguez has an intellectual disability and here’s what she said about it.

RUBY RODRIGUEZ – Former Kapuso host Ruby Rodriguez reveals that her son AJ has an intellectual disability and this is the main reason why they will be living in America for now.

In a previous article, actress-host Ruby Rodriguez was not certain if she got terminated from Eat Bulaga or not. She just did not receive a call when the show returned on air again after a lockdown. She said, “With regards if they take you out just like that, they just drop you like a hot potato, I think it’s them who can answer that.”

 Following her absence in the noontime show, she shared that she landed a job in the Philippine consulate in Los Angeles. She went through the process of getting the job and was not appointed contrary to the speculations of the public. She added that she, her husband, and her kids are are residents of the United States. And currently, they are staying.

However, apart from being a working girl now, she revealed that what has mainly pushed them to live abroad, for now, is actually because of her son AJ who has an intellectual disability. In the latest episode of Tunay Na Buhay, she revealed this and this condition is called Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP).

She added that this condition is characterized by a delayed brain at his biological age. This is not extremely rare but what’s rare about this is the chronic attack that her son has. Ruby shared, “The HSP is not naman really rare, it’s not extremely rare. But it happens, pero one attack lang. Ang rare is a chronic attack of HSP, which AJ had. Because of his chronic attack, ang HSP damages internal organs specifically the kidneys.”

Accordingly, while she was still in the Philippines, her earnings go to his medical treatments where a month’s expenses can reach Php 25,000.00. Being in the USA, the treatment is now being shouldered by the insurance. What she just wanted for her son to be functional and be able to survive if the time comes that they are no longer around to guide and provide for him.
