PDEA Discovers 1kg Illegal Plant in a J&T Express Package Allegedly for Delivery

The personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has discovered a 1kg of illegal plant called “maryjane” in a J&T Express package.

Agents from the PDEA’s Region 4A seized the illegal plant known as “Maryjane” before it was allegedly transported to a drug user who had placed an online order. The agents stormed a courier warehouse in Dasmarinas City based on the report.

This came after the PDEA acquired information about suspicious parcel contents arriving at the J&T Express warehouse. As a result, a cooperative operation was conducted by the Station Investigation Unit-Batangas, PO Batangas, and PDEA-4A to confirm the information.

He suggested that the contents of the 13 shipments were peculiar with the help of K9 Adam, a sniffing dog. When the shipments were unpacked, the authorities were astounded to find 1.2 kilos of dried marijuana leaves and seeds.

The parcel’s sender is reported to be a man named Ethan David Gabriel. According to the report, the authorities are conducting a follow-up investigation into the receiver.

Meanwhile, two (2) narcotics couriers were apprehended after allegedly eluding capture at a police roadblock in Kalinga following the chase. Two alleged couriers of the illegal plant “Maryjane” were caught after a clash with Philippine National Police (PNP) troops.

The suspects were caught at a border checkpoint in Kalinga, where The police squad sought to serve an arrest warrant on the suspects for alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade. However, suspects drew the vehicle away from the checkpoint while brandishing a firearm.

The two suspects opened fire on the officers, prompting the officer to strike the driver in the left foot, causing him to lose control and smash into the rice field. The accused was found with ten marijuana bricks worth P1.2 million, a cal 9mm Smith and Wesson with a magazine and four bullets, two hand grenades, and P13,750 in cash.
