PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Thursday (September 9)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical Storm Jolina maintains strength as it moves away from Luzon landmass.

On Thursday (September 9, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Storm Jolina would still affect the country’s weather condition.

Tropical Storm Jolina has maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near and gustiness of up to 115 kph as it moves 25 kph at northwestward direction. It has a central pressure of 998 hPa.

Jolina has been last spotted at 145 kilometers west northwest of Iba, Zambales or 175 km West of Dagupan City, Pangasinan. It is moving northwestward over the West Philippine Sea and would leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this afternoon.

The southwest monsoon would bring monsoon rains over Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas during light to moderate with at times heavy rains. Habagat would also bring cloudy conditions with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, and the rest of Luzon and Visayas.

The habagat would bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the rest of Mindanao. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected during severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition over Visayas, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan including Kalayaan Islands would be slight to moderate. Moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions are expected over Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands and Occidental Mindoro.
