Kylie Verzosa received these words from Gloria Diaz
Beauty queen-actress Kylie Verzosa recalled the amusing incident she had with veteran actress Gloria Diaz.
Aside from acting, there is another common denominator between Kylie and Gloria, they both joined international beauty pageants and won the titles. Gloria was crowned Miss Universe in 1969 while Kylie won the Miss International 2016 title.
Based on the article in Inquirer Entertainment, during a recent interview, Kylie recalled the time when Gloria told her to join pageants. At that time, the younger actress already won the international beauty pageant title, however, the veteran actress was not familiar with her.
Kylie Verzosa shared that she was shopping for clothes at Zara and Gloria Diaz was also there with her daughter Isabelle Daza. “She was like, “Iha, come here, come here …” I don’t know if I should be insulted or something (laughs) because I was already a beauty queen at the time (laughs),” The Housemaid actress shared.
Inquirer columnist Rito Asilo recalled that the first Pinay Miss Universe told him about this. Gloria approached Kylie without any idea who she was and just gave her a piece of unsolicited advice to join pageants. Kylie’s answer to this was “Yes po, and I won a title.”
Meanwhile, as she is now leading to more serious roles, it is inevitable that Kylie Verzosa is being compared to Gloria Diaz, from being a beauty queen to a serious actress. The younger actress said that she does not mind this as she is a huge fan of the veteran actress. “Sobrang idol ko s’ya. I really don’t mind being compared to her!” Kylie said.
What can you say about this?
The Housemaid is Kylie’s first big break on the big screen and it is based on South Korea’s 2010 Cannes entry. For this project, she had the wonderful chance to work with veteran stars Jaclyn Jose, Albert Martinez, and Alma Moreno.
