Cops Arrest 2 Suspects for Stealing Money from Virtual Wallet of Poor Senior Citizen

SAMPALOC, MANILA – Two suspects have been arrested for stealing cash from a virtual wallet of a senior citizen.

A CCTV footage caught two suspects who reportedly steal P43, 000 from the virtual wallet of a senior citizen. The victim was having a conversation with the suspect while transferring money using a mobile phone during an online transaction.

After completing the online transaction, the suspect borrowed the elderly man’s mobile phone to copy the reference number. The culprit immediately ran away and escape after performing his illegal activity.

After a few hours, the victim received six notifications and learned that he already lost P43, 000. He expressed his appointment after losing a huge amount of cash due to the heartless scammers.

The unnamed senior citizen immediately reported it to the police officers of MPD Station. The cops launched a manhunt operation and eventually arrested the suspects identified as Ivan Ogayon, a call center agent and his cohort Chester John Jose.

Ogayon and Jose were facing charges for violating the Republic Act No. 8484 or the Access Devices Regulation law. The two refused to give a statement regarding the issue.

The Philippine National Police also conduct a follow up operation to arrest the other suspect and recover the stolen cash. The victim said that the thieves were using strategy same to ‘Budol-budol’.

“Ang bilis po ng kamay niya, hindi ko napansin ginanun ganun lang niya tapos isinauli na po ang cellphone,” the victim said.

The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group also advised the public to be more aware when dealing with strangers and not to divulge their password and cellphone number to other people.
