Michael V talked about the current setup in “Pepito Manaloto”
Kapuso sitcom Pepito Manaloto has been airing for a decade now since its first episode was aired in 2010 and recently, rumors surfaced that it will be ending.
In line with this rumor and the rumored network transfer of Michael V, who plays the titular role, he has this clarification.
Based on the article in The Philippine Star, the Kapuso comedian stressed that he still has a program contract with GMA and so this is the reason why the network transfer rumor is not true.
Bitoy also said that he is not considering transferring to other networks. He also explained the reason behind why Pepito Manaloto: Unang Kwento is now airing, instead of the regular cast.
For the current show, Seph Cadayona (Pepito), Mikee Quintos (Elsa), and Kokoy de Santos (Patrick) are playing the main characters as the story went back before Pepito and Elsa became a couple.
Bitoy said that they did this while finding ways to have a better show presentation. The comedian stressed that he does not want to go on with the show just like that.
“More than the fact na loyal ako sa network, mas loyal ako sa audience namin. And at that point kinailangan ko lang talaga umatras and let other people figure out kung paano ko gagawin ang tama, gawing mas maganda ‘yung show,” he said.
During the pandemic, they had to shoot their own scenes and it was not easy because they had to do their own makeup and lighting setup. Then, the creative team of the sitcom thought of doing the Pepito Manaloto: Unang Kwento. Fortunately, this was warmly received by the audience. “We are so happy na naramdaman ang nostalgia at kilig and, of course, performance ng cast,” he said.
Michael V also said that the performance of every character is well-applauded. He added that if this continues and the audience will want more, it is a possibility that Unag Kwento will have its Chapter 2.
