Elderly Woman Arrested for Allegedly “Sangla-Tira” Modus in Cavite
Police authorities arrested an elderly woman over “sangla-tira” modus where she victimizes an elderly scrapper woman in Cavite.
In Cavite, an elderly citizen was arrested for allegedly mortgaging false land titles to her victims. According to a GMA News story, one of her victims was an elderly woman who lost money she had saved for ten years.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Division executed an entrapment operation to apprehend Lolita Avila, 66. Avila is named as the alleged mastermind of the “sangla-tira” modus operandi by the police.
According to the investigation, Avila poses as a broker looking for a low-cost mortgagee for a residential property title. Avila will mortage the land title that is not hers, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Benedick Poblete, Provicial Officer of the PNP-CIDG Cavite.

He went on to say that as soon as they were able to hand over the money, the suspect vanished. He went on to say that the land title had been pawned to a large number of people.
As a result, the number of people filing lawsuits against the suspect has increased, and investigators expect that number to rise once the case is made public. Most of the suspect’s victims, according to Poblete, were “unschooled,” such as seamstresses, traders, housewives, and carpenters.
Violeta Limroa, 62, was one of the victims, when she and her husband were gathering goods. They allegedly provided the suspect the P80,000 they had saved over a ten-year period in exchange for a pledge to live together.
Niloko niya ako, binigay ko sa kaniya ‘yung P80,000,” Said Limroa, whose husband is said to be blind.
Limroa stated that she will not accept the suspect’s apology.
The CIDG produced documents from the National Housing Authority and others as evidence. The suspect, who regrets his conduct, will be charged with estafa and other forms of swindling.
