Netizens Say Moreno, Pacquiao Becoming Targets As 2022 Elections Looms
MORENO, PACQUIAO BECOMING TARGETS – As the 2022 Presidential elections draw near, netizens feel as if a “political circus” is brewing.
Obviously, Filipinos would have their presidential bets more so, big-name groups and politicians. However, what drives the votes would always be the Filipino people.
As such, early surveys on popularity have become a tool to test the waters or sometimes, to push agendas. Meanwhile, amongst the early favorites to run in the 2022 elections are Davao City Mayor, Sara Duterte, and Manila Mayor, Isko Moreno.
Back in June, Moreno, during an ABS-CBN interview, said that he still has an obligation to the people of Manila. But, he emphasized that he is “definitely running”, for a position, that is currently undisclosed.
On the other hand, fighting Senator Manny Pacquiao already expressed his intention for the highest seat in the Philippines. Following this, Pacquiao had faced massive backlash from members of the administration that once held him in high regard.
Recently, Moreno, has somewhat dealt with the same issue but to a lesser degree. On Facebook, Mocha Uson Blogs, a known platform for spreading misinformation, called out Isko saying for allegedly allowing overcrowding in vaccination sites.
“YORME. Sa Maynila ganito kami, sa 2022 buong Pilipinas na rin sana.”
But, the photo was taken in Caloocan, not Manila. Following expected criticism from netizens, Mocha Uson Blog shifted its content and is now saying that Caloocan is following Manila.
Additionally, the Manila Mayor was also given a now-redacted show-cause order from the DILG for failing to comply with Duterte’s “drug-war” initiatives back in 2018. However, he started his stint as the city chief in 2019.
Because of this, netizens are claiming that the DILG is simply used in a political circus, much like Mocha Uson Blogs is.
“Sir DILG you are being used in the political circus by the people in power who want to remain in their position“, said one netizen.
