17 Delta Variant Cases Confirmed In Laguna According To Health Official
DELTA VARIANT CASES CONFIRMED – According to a health officer from the Laguna provincial health office, 17 cases of the new Delta Variant have already been recorded.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, several variants of COVID-19 have become a cause of concern. Among these are variants is the Delta Variant which brought a massive blow to the health systems of countries such as India and Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the Philippines has recorded a total of 119 cases of the variant. Concerningly, local transmission had already been confirmed.
During an interview with ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo, Laguna Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rene Bagamasbad said:
Lumabas na ang resulta ng mga pinadala natin sa genome sequencing. May lumabas na 17 na may Delta variant
However, he emphasized that the patients found with the Delta Variant had already recovered. This was due to delays in genome sequencing that could take up to four weeks.
He added that some of the patients that were found with the Delta Variant were confirmed positive for COVID-19 way back in June and some in early July. With this, he said that contact trading for close contacts would be underway.
Currently, only 12 of the 119 Delta Variant cases remain active. But, OCTA Research group warned that there may be undetected cases due to local transmissions.
