Pinoy Rock Icon Wally Gonzales of Juan de la Cruz Band Dies in his Sleep
The Pinoy rock legend Wally Gonzales of the popular Juan de la Cruz band has already passed away in his sleep.
On Friday (July 23, 2021), John Gonzales, the son of Filipino rock guitarist announced that his father Wally Gonzales has already passed away. John did not mention his dad’s cause of death but revealed that his father died in his sleep.
John also instructed the friends and fans of the legendary rock icon to wait for further announcement as the family prepares a short wake. He is also inviting everyone to visit his dad’s wake before its cremation.

“My father Wally Gonzalez Full passed away peacefully in his sleep earlier this morning. To his friends in the music industry and off, we are arranging for a short wake so that you can visit him post-cremation, as was his last wishes.

Wally Gonzales is a Filipino bluesman and professional guitarist who played for Juan de la Cruz band together with Pepe Smith and Mike Hanopol in 1973. JDC band has been dubbed as the first OPM Rock band in Philippine music history.
