Pres. Duterte Speaks on Delta Variant of COVID-19 in PH
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte gave a warning to Filipinos in case the Delta variant of COVID-19 will spread in the country.
Countries now are in the pursuit of preventing the entry of Delta variant of COVID-19, a variant of concern that was first recorded in India. This coronavirus variant caused a devastating situation in the country leading to a lot of deaths.
Hospitals in India reached their full capacity amid the spike in the COVID-19 cases due to the said variant. Some patients were not catered and had to stay in vehicles as they fight against the disease. The massive deaths led to mass cremations as crematoriums can no longer accommodate all the dead bodies.
The Delta variant is known to have a higher transmissibility rate compared to other variants of COVID-19 thus it can spread fast. Currently, several nations including the Philippines are implementing travel restrictions to prevent its entry.
