Pres. Duterte Agrees to Temporary Ban on Travelers from Indonesia
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte agreed to adding Indonesia to the travel ban in the Philippines amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Most countries across the globe are tightening their securities amid the fight against the spread of COVID-19. Several new variants of the coronavirus disease were detected in different nations.
One of the variants of concern is the Delta variant. Reportedly, it was first detected in India and it left the country in a devastating situation. Hospitals were filled with patients and thousands of people died. The medical staff even pleaded for help as they can no longer attend to all the patients.
Several nations implemented a travel ban against India. The Delta variant is said to be more transmissible thus many countries implement protocols to prevent its entry.

The Philippines is one of the nations that imposes a temporary travel ban against several countries to prevent the entry of the Delta variant. The country temporarily bans travelers from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sri Lanka, Oman, and Nepal until July 31, 2021.
Recently, another country, Indonesia, is added on the travel ban in the Philippines as approved by Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the said mandate will take effect starting 12:01 a.m. of July 16, 2021 until 11:59 p.m. of July 31, 2021.
According to presidential spokesman Harry Roque, the travelers who have been to Indonesia within the last 14 days preceding their arrival to the Philippines are also covered by the travel ban. Those who will arrive in the country before 12:01 a.m. of July 16, 2021 may be allowed to enter the nation but must adhere to a 14-day facility-based quarantine despite a negative result on the RT-PCR test.
