McGregor Forced Into Surgery After Tragic Incident In Latest Fight

UFC 264 – Conor McGregor suffered a serious leg injury during his fight against Dustin Poirier that forced him undergo surgery.

The Notorious Conor McGregor has been a polarizing and controversial figure in the UFC. Early on in his career, McGregor faced off against Poirier in their first-ever match. The Irishman won their first bout but Poirier managed to take home an upset victory against him on their second fight.

However, McGregor’s plan to redeem himself in their trilogy fight ended up with him in the hospital. Reportedly, the fighter was inside the operating room for more than three and a half hours.

Furthermore, doctors were required to insert a metal rod into his tibia and fixed his fibula with plates and screws. In one of his latest tweets, McGregor said:

Just out of the surgery room guys! Surgery went excellent! Feeling tremendous! 6 weeks on crutch and we build back! Let’s go! God bless

McGregor’s fight with Poirier was cut short in the first round due to the freak accident, with Poirier winning by TKO as McGregor was carried from the Octogen on a stretcher. But, McGregor being the controversial figure that he is, had some words for his opponent.

Currently, its still unclear when McGregor would be able to get back into the ring again. But, Dana White said he’s already planning another Poirier-McGregor bout once the leg is healed.
