ABS-CBN FRANCHISE – A year after non-renewal of ABS-CBN network’s franchise, these stars stayed and here are their reasons why.
The country were in disbelief when one year ago, the ABS-CBN network received a verdict dumping their application for a fresh franchise. They received a landslide of votes denying their bid despite 13 comprehensive and exhaustive congressional hearings which proved they never violated any law. And on July 10, 2020, the ABS-CBN network officially shut down.

There 70 lawmakers who said “Yes” to deny, 11 who said “No”, two inhibited, and one abstained. Amid the pandemic, thousands lost their job and many people in far-flung areas were denied for free information. ABS-CBN has the widest reach but when it closed down which remained unmatched up until now. Many of their artists also left but they also earned a handful who put their trust and believed in them.
And now, a year after the closure, there were still those who stayed with them as their way to show their love and loyalty to the network who took care of them during their glorious days. Expressing why they stayed, Robi Domingo, among those who did, said that he sees his purpose being with his home network while Enchong Dee said that in this dark times of ABS-CBN is where he feels it needed him the most and he’s happy to stay.
Joshua Garcia also spoke saying that he grew in the network and Zsa Zsa Padilla expressed that she’s at home in the Kapamilya network. OPM Icon Gary Valenciano also stated, “I have nothing against anybody else but this is where I’m called to be. This is where I will stay.”
Staying is also Daniel Padilla‘s way to show love and gratitude to the first network that believed and trusted him. Couple Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid expressed that the boat might be shaky for now but they assure to stay through “thick and thin” as per ABS-CBN news article.
