Gossip Monger Arrested Along with Partner Over Threat to Minor in Valenzuela

Authorities arrested a gossip monger along with his partner over reports they have threatened and hurt a minor girl in Valenzuela City.

According to an article, the arrest came when the victim’s relatives complained that they had harassed the underage girl, who was 15 years old. Maynard Mingullo Openiano, alias Nonoy, 29, a construction worker, and his partner Elena de Vera Rosario, alias Banang, 40, both of Marcelo St. Malanday, Valenzuela City, were identified as the suspects.

Based on the report, the suspect will be charged with breaking the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act for allegedly abusing and threatening the victim, a Grade 9 student who went by the name Charo.

According to the police, the victim’s sister filed a lawsuit against Openiano at their barangay office on June 19 for allegedly spreading rumors that harmed the complainant’s reputation. Charo was on her way to the store on Marcelo St. in Malanday on Tuesday morning when she encounter the suspects.

Police investigation revealed that Rosario kicked her and Openiano threatened to kill her that if the victim’s sister did not drop the charges against them. Charo then flew home and informed her brother-in-law about the incident.

They sought police assistance right away, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects. During the operation, the suspects were apprehended at their residence.
