Duterte Compares Pacquiao To Trillanes, Says Both Are Alike
DUTERTE COMPARES PACQUIAO, TRILLANES – Recently, President Rodrigo Duterte went on the offensive against Senator Manny Pacquiao.
The Presidents disdain against the fighting Senator started when the latter claimed corrupt agencies exists under his administration. As such, Duterte challenged Pacquiao to provide a list of the “corrupt agencies”.
Following this, Pacquiao complied and presented his list. However, the Senator himself left the Philippines early to train for his upcoming fight against Errol Spence Jr.
But, according to Duterte’s camp, Pacquiao’s claims are similar to that of former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV. During his taped public briefing, the President said:
They want to, you know, hold power. Maybe they see a good opportunity for themselves
Duterte opened up the topic after Salvador Panelo, Duterte’s chief legal counsel said Trillanes accused Senator “Bong” Go of corrupt public works in Davao. However, Duterte said that he’d leave Trillanes to Panelo.
Earlier, Trillanes announced his plans to run for the highest seat in the country. But, he said that he would step aside if Vice President Leni Robredo sought to run for higher office.
Similarly, several officials and lawmakers stated that Senator Manny Pacquiao also has plans to run for President in the next election. In relation to this, several netizens across the Philippines said they had seen banners promoting “Pacquiao for 2022”.
