Richard Gomez said this about the political career of his wife
Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez reacted to the possibility that his wife Leyte 4th District Representative Lucy Torres will run for senator in the 2022 elections.
From the world of show business, Richard and Lucy were able to pave their way to the world of politics. Being public servants, the couple showed that they are not just capable of giving entertainment but also services needed by their constituents.
Just recently, rumors surfaced that Lucy is included in the list of senatorial candidates who will be endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
However, the congresswoman said that there is nothing final yet. She said that offers to run for senator came to her years ago and if it was ambition, she already grabbed those offers but that was not the case.
In line with the political career of Lucy Torres, Richard Gomez expressed support. He said, “go for it” to his wife if ever the President will offer her.
“To be in a national position, it’s really a matter of destiny, ‘no. And for you to be there, you really need a lot of support especially from the leaders in government,” the Ormoc City Mayor said.
He added that he has said this to his wife: “Whether you like it or not, if you were to ask me, if the President will ask you to run under his wings,’ sabi ko, ‘it’s really up to you to say yes or no.” For Richard Gomez, Lucy Torres should accept the offer from the President, if ever she will be offered.
